From Death Traps and Bone Collectors to streams that disappear into vast underground lakes, and rock eating termites with magnesium mandibles. All of this and more...
The Cradle Nature Reserve is the location in which our Pop Up Tented Camp will be situated. The Reserve protects some of the largest and most pristine areas of the remaining high altitude dolomitic grasslands — which are second only to the Cape Floral Kingdom (Fynbos) in terms of floral diversity. This protected area is also home to the leopard, brown hyaena and antelope, like the magnificent eland, blesbok, kudu, blue wildebeest and red hartebeest.
On top of this, you get a distant, sweeping view of the Johannesburg metropolitan cityscape — the second largest urban area on the continent — from deep within the peaceful heart of the African bushveld.
The area is a magnificent and ancient landscape boasting a truly primordial geology that protects and slowly reveals the prehistoric origins of the human race. We offer our guests a front-row peak into this world by inviting them to explore the Nature Reserve on exciting walking and driving excursions conducted by our field guides.
To get the full benefit of this enlightening program, a minimum 2-night stay is recommended.
